Piano
Wanting to buy a piano?
There is a vast variety of budgets when we talk about buying a piano. Here some ideas:
- A vertical Piano
A vertical piano can be found on piano stores or multiple online sellers, also common to be found for free or used at Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Pros: a real piano sound! Cons: cost of transportation and maintenance of tuning every 6 months. Recommended brands: Yamaha, Steinway.
- A clavinova
A clavinova can be found on Amazon or multiple online sellers, also common to be found second-hand at Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Pros: affordable, lighter, no tuning needed, and portable. Can be connected to the computer for recordings and emulating other instruments. Cons: won’t sound totally as a real piano. Recommended brands: Yamaha, Casio, Korg. No other one please! I would also avoid models with bluetooth and many sounds and rhythms.
Please don’t forget to check if it comes with a bench, sustain pedal and power
- A Digital Piano
It’s very similar to a clavinova, but without the furniture. A digital piano can be found on Amazon or multiple online sellers, also common to be found second-hand at Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Pros: affordable, lighter, no tuning needed, and portable. It can be connected to the computer for recordings and emulating other instruments. Cons: won’t sound totally as a real piano. Recommended brands: Yamaha, Casio, Korg. No other one please! I would also avoid models with bluetooth and many sounds and rhythms.
Please don’t forget to check if it comes with a bench, sustain pedal and power chord. Also please buy a good piano stand and a music stand.
